We could slide in any CarPlay or android capable touchscreen nav unit of our choice. What we need to make our cars perfect (in our minds) is double DIN stereo capability. We can buy dice/denson/whatever iPhone/android integration kits but they suck, are clunky to use/install and aren't terribly long lasting in my experience. We can add single DIN units but they kinda suck and the installs look really bad and aftermarket. They are also super comfortable.īut let's face it the stereo/nav systems suck sweaty filthy stinky slimy donkey balls. And they don't have a turbo that has a limited lifespan with a multiple thousand dollar replacement cost, an engine that turns itself off at every stoplight which is hell on starters, the engine and your nerves wondering if it'll start back up again or have to be hooked up to a computer at the dealership just to replace a battery. I went through the Audio Table of Contents Upgrade located here and probably confused myself quite a bit We want to try upgrading factory speakers at a later time. I didn't realise until reading the forums these wouldn't be an easy fit. From his previous vehicle we have kept a Soundstream STL4.500 and STL2.350, neither of which have differential balanced inputs. This is my sons car and is (to me) significantly different from when I was using RF and PG stuff in the 90's. I intend to purchase the Technic PnP harness. Vehicle is an 08 E90 335I with Hi-Fi option 676 with CCC and AUX in, no USB.
